Semester Complete - Duryee Family Update May 2017
In January I wrote about opposition and perseverance. We've persevered! It does feel like God won an actual battle in our lives this semester. We faced sickness, discouragement, parenting challenges, and language issues all semester long, and it is only because of God's gra) were also sad to say goodbye to some of our classmates and the graduating language students. I plan to share some photos from graduation on the blog later this week.
Our summer plans are fairly low-key at first. We are staying on campus and continuing our Spanish studies as much as possible. Chris and another language student are meeting with Alejandro, reading the book of Mark, three times a week. They only speak Spanish together! There are a few Bible students staying on campus and so we are having them for meals or going on day trips together (this week we visited the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi). Finally, we are both working on a neat language study tool we learned called Bible coloring, where we use a color coded system for recognizing verbs and other parts of speech in the Bible. I am planning to color Romans and Chris will be starting on Mark. Chris is also assisting with the food pantry, an amazing ministry of RGBI that provides a lot of fruits and vegetables to needy people on campus and in our community. The rest of the year a winter volunteer manages this, but he's gone north for the summer (like nearly everyone!) so Chris and Billy are filling in until he returns. We also pray regularly for our tutors who are serving the Lord in various parts of the country and around the world this summer. We want them to come home from Liberia, Southeast Asia, Chicago and India, to name a few places, safely and excited to continue helping us prepare to take the Gospel to Spain.
In July we will be heading on a road trip. We plan to attend ABWE's Missionary Enrichment Conference July 17-21 in Lancaster, PA, and to visit our supporting church in Ohio, The Little Church in the Vale, on the 22nd. Along the way we will see Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston and Richmond (visiting a partner there) and Louisville, Nashville, Dallas and Austin on the way home (those are just the big city stops).

Please pray for our sending church pastor, Brad, and his wife, Bonnie, as well as our sending church as it continues its latest transition. Pastor Brad is still battling cancer and very weak. We miss them terribly.
