March 2017 Duryee Family Prayer Letter
All the way my savior leads me
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His faithful mercies?
Who through life has been my guide
Heavenly peace, divinest comfort
Ere by faith in Him to dwell
For I know whate'er fall me
Jesus doeth all things well
This hymn has been a source of comfort for me over the last few weeks. Our language program is excellent, but it is a 2-year college course crammed into 10 months. In reality, we are here to learn how to learn Spanish. The Spanish will come in Spain. But we want to communicate and do well on exams and oral presentations and impress our friends, and it is not coming very quickly (especially for Chris, who is starting from almost nothing). So we are grateful for your prayers for us. Language learning and wisdom in parenting are our constant needs right now.
However, we have a lot of praises as well!
We had a wonderful time meeting Eduardo (center in the photo above), a Spanish Pastor who was visiting our pastor. It was so fun and encouraging to hear the Castilian accent and be reminded of the people we will serve in this language. Please pray for Eduardo and the people of Córdoba.
The sale of our home closed on February 24 - freedom!
After our sicknesses, the kids were emotionally needy. Susanna was homesick, lonely, and struggling every time we left her at school or church. We prayed and God was so faithful! Last weekend our family spent some quality time together, including a trip to an ice skating rink. Both children are much happier, secure, and willing to try new things again. For example, they did Sunday school, children's church and school without tears this week.
I went on a ladies retreat (all in Spanish!) and understood a lot.
Chris did an excellent job leading our church's time of worship one Sunday. You can see the video here!
Tonight we went out for a walk around campus and we found lightening bugs! The kids (ok all of us) were thrilled!
Thanks for praying for the Duryee family support needs! We are currently 96% supported! Less than $300 per month to go. Want to join the team? Visit our support page.
