One Month Until We Come to the States
Furlough? "Home" Assignment? Who even knows. We'll be in the United States for SIX MONTHS and we want to see you!
Recently a friend of Susanna’s was on her way back to Spain after 6 months in the states with her family. This MK (missionari’s kid) has lived in Ethiopia and Spain and maybe some other countries I just don’t know about. Making conversation, a stranger at the airport asked her where she was from. Her answer? “When I’m American, I live in Texas.”
Third Culture Kids, the name for children raised in a culture outside their parents’ home culture, have a hard time stating where they’re from. A better question for those who travel a lot is “what did you like about the last place you lived?” Susanna and Austin don’t feel particularly Spanish, but they don’t feel American either. They are excited to see family and friends but apprehensive about schooling, lots of travel, and fitting in. We know they will be welcome when we visit churches and supporters and we look forward to reintroducing them to the many people who make our life in Spain possible. Thank you for you prayers for our children. They too have sacrificed something for the mission field, and we want them to know how worthy Jesus is.
Before we head to Pittsburgh for Missionary Enrichment conference and then on to Washington and Oregon, we have a few things to wrap up!
Please praise God and pray about the following things with us:
This Sunday we are excited to see the daughter of our coworkers be baptized and to celebrate with them. We’ve been spending more time with the Cabanillas church recently and God continues to confirm our calling there.
July 2 we welcome a team of helpers for English Camp. We’ll be preparing for English camp and then taking them around town to explore, just like we did 13 years ago. This year’s theme, Safari, is the same one we did when we came for our survey trip.
English camp and Vacation Bible School take place July 4-15. In addition to morning camp, we’ll play baseball 2 nights a week. Please pray that we can serve kids and their families well, teaching them English and showing Jesus’ love in a way that makes them curious to know more.
We’ve begun to say our goodbyes and it’s very hard! We are encouraged to think about the hellos we have coming up.
While we are in the states, we have a large support deficit to make up. To be fully supported, we need to make up about $3000 per month. If you are a financial supporter, we plan to reach out to meet and say thank you! If you want to join our team and enable us to return to Spain to support the church plant in January, please let us know. We would also love to share our ministry with others, and we would do appreciate connecting with…
